Upcoming Events

We discussed the following upcoming events that families may find of interest. You can also visit our Calendar Page for more events. We also include up-to-date and of-interest news articles at the bottom of all our Newsletters.

The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, the City of Pittsburgh, community organizations, and other key stakeholders will plan and design a fully inclusive Sensory Classroom geared towards learners of all abilitiesat the Frick Environmental Center (FEC). The project will create a series of different sensory experiences and teaching moments of various sizes and scales, organized along an accessible route that winds through the natural landscape at the FEC. The space will provide opportunities for structured learning, play, discovery, observation, and gathering. The Edith L. Trees Charitable Trust will be funding this planning and design process.

The estimated completion date for the design is July 1, 2023. Before starting the design work on the Frick Environmental Center Sensory Classroom, stakeholders are interested in your experiences at the FEC and other parks, natural spaces, and outdoor learning environments. Please take 5 minutes to fill out the survey and help us create a unique outdoor space for all Pittsburgh residents to enjoy! The survey will be open from November 14 to December 5.
